The SBA in partnership with the City of Boston Small and Local Business Enterprise Office will present the following free seminar:

Grow your Business with Certifications

Looking for new markets for your small business’ goods or services?

Small business certifications are like professional certifications. They document a special capability or status that will help you compete in the marketplace. Unlike permits and licenses, you do not need to obtain certifications to legally operate. However, in order to take advantage of business opportunities, such as government contracts, you may need to obtain some certifications.

Join us for this informative seminar.

Time: 10:00am – 12:00noon

Place: SBA, 10 Causeway Street, Room 177B, Boston, MA 02222

Date: January 24, 2014

Learn about certifications and hear contracting information from:

Take the City of Boston Small Business Survey

In Uncategorized on January 23, 2014 at 2:51 pm

The City of Boston’s Office of Business Development has created a survey to get some broad input from business owners about what their top needs are.  This survey is very brief and hopefully will provide the City of Boston with information needed for a more targeted approach to supporting small businesses.

Congratulations to BPD Commissioner Evans

Boston PD

The Allston Board of Trade would like to congratulate William B. Evans on his permanent appointment as Boston Police Commissioner.  ABOT is thrilled with Mayor Walsh’s decision to make Commissioner Evans the permanent Police Commisioner after serving as acting commissioner when Commissioner Davis stepped down.  As Commissioner, he has already made an impact with his appointments which have reshaped department leadership to reflect the diversity of this city.

William Evans is a local legend having served District 14 as a patrol officer in the 1980’s, then returning as a Lieutenant/Night Commander in 1992, and being promoted to Captain of District 14 in 1997 to 2006.  As Captain, he instituted a Zero-Tolerance policy for underage drinking in response to the excessive partying among college students in our neighborhood.  He left our district to serve as Commander of District D-4, and then, in 2009, was promoted to Superintendent, Chief, Bureau of Field Services where he played a key role in the response to the Marathon Bombing tragedy.

The Allston Board of Trade is proud to have honored Commissioner Evans at our Annual Dinner this past September and we extend our best wishes for continued excellence in leading the Boston Police Department.
