Donations Wanted to Help Allston Fire Victims

In Uncategorized on September 6, 2014 at 6:54 pm

By now we’ve all heard about the nine-alarm fire that destroyed 8, 12, and 16 Harvard Terrace on the evening of September 3, 2014.  As the displaced residents try to pick up the pieces of their lives, some great organizations are accepting donations on their behalf.

The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Cooalition (MIRA) is accepting monetary donations at the following link: MIRA

The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is accepting clothing and non-perishable food donations.  For more information, click here: MAPS

The Allston-Brighton Community Development Corporation is also collecting specific items needed by the residents.  DOnations should be dropped off at the Allston-Brighton CDC 20 Linden Street Allston, MA 02134, or call Jason Desrosier (617) 750-4452 for pick up.

It is important to realize that many of the residents lost their life savings as well as important documents such as passports, birth certificates, etc.

It is likewise important to be thankful that nobody lost thier lives, which is due in large part to the Boston Fire Department.
